시놉시스 Synopsis
일제강점기 프로예맹운동(항일 조선프롤레타리아예술동맹)에 참여한 28살의 젊은 이상춘의 죽음을 비통해하며 그 시기 같이 활동한 임화의 시, [별들이 합창하는 밤]을 모티브로 하였다. 이상춘은 연극 및 미술작품 활동을 하고 젊은 시기 민중의 해방운동에 참여하게 되었지만 일제의 탄압으로 스스로 생을 마감하게 된다. 과거 이러한 현실과, 오늘날 우리의 젊은 노동자들의 죽음이 어쩌면 같은 이야기인지도 모른다.
This animation is based on the poem [The Night of Singing Stars] written by IM Hwa to mourn the death of LEE Sangchun. LEE was IM’s contemporary and a member of the Korean Federation of Proletarian Art who died at the young age of 28. He was an actor and artist who joined the movement for Korean independence at a young age, but he ended his own life under the repressive Japanese regime. Perhaps the reality of his story is reflected in the deaths of workers in the present day.
연출의도 Purpose
이상춘은 당시 민족주의 운동과는 다르계 당대 시대를 반영하여 노동자를 중심으로 하는 문화운동에 관심이 많았다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 부분은 오늘날의 현실에 비추어 보더라도 사회적 현실은 크게 달라지지 않고 있으며 그의 운동현실은 유효하다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 작업은 이상춘의 죽음에 대해 애통해하는 임화의 시 [별들이 합창하는 밤: 이상춘 군의
외로운 죽음을 위하여] 내용을 오늘날 현실에 맞게 재해석하는 작업으로 애니메이션 작업으로 표현하였다.
LEE Sangchun reflected a different aspect of his era than the nationalist movement, being more interested in the labor movement of his times. The issues that concerned him have not changed greatly since then and are still relevant in the present day. This animation offers a modern reinterpretation of IM Hwa’s poem [The Night of Singing Stars] which mourns the death of LEE Sangchun.
