시놉시스 Synopsis
한국의 근현대사를 거쳐온 여성들을 향한 헌사.
This animation is dedicated to the women who have lived through the modern history of Korea.
연출의도 Purpose
[미쓰 박 프로젝트 #1]은 2016년 박근혜 정부의 퇴진을 위한 촛불시위에서 발생하였던 온갖 대립과 혐오의 아이러니에 대한 질문에서 출발하였다. 당시 “미쓰 박”은 일종의 멸칭으로 전락되었는데, 이에 본인은 애니메이션 기법을 사용하여 하나의 의미로 기호화되지 않는 절대 다수의 “미쓰 박”들을 현재의 시간으로 귀환시키고 싶었다. 오랜 시간 수작업으로 만지고 찢고 쓸고 벗겨내며 이루어진 작업 과정은 ‘딸’, ‘언니’, ‘누나’, ‘아내’, ‘엄마’라는 이름으로 살아왔던 나의 어머니 “미쓰 박”, 그리고 굴곡진 한국의 근현대사를 살아온 무수한 여성들의 삶에 대한 애도이자 제의이다.
[Miss Park Project #1] began as a way of questioning the irony of the antagonism and hatred that arose during the 2016 candlelight vigils which forced former president Park Geun-hye to resign from office. At the time, ‘Miss Park’ became a scornful nickname for the then-president. In response, I wanted to use the technique of animation to bring the countless Miss Parks through history into the present day without turning them into a monolithic symbol. Created through longhours of hand-made work – tearing, cutting, and removing layers – this animation offers sympathy, partly in memory of my own mother ‘Miss Park’ who was a daughter, sister, wife, and mother, and also for the countless women who lived through the twists and turns of modern Korean history.
