시놉시스 Synopsis
오랜 시간 동안 열매가 달리지 않는 무화과나무를 키우던 한 소년이 살고 있었다. 어느 날, 소년은 꿈을 통해 잠시 다른 세계로 넘어가 자신이 그토록 원하던 무화과 열매를 얻게 되는 일을 겪는다. 하지만 자신이 원하는 모든 것이 가능한 이 세계에서 소년은 무화과에 금방 질리고 만다. 소년은 현실로 돌아오고 나무 심기를 다시한다.
There was a boy who took care of a fig tree which did not bear any fruit for a long time. One day, he went to another world through his dream and got the fruit he wanted so much but could not get enough. Before long, however, the boy got tired of the world where everything he wanted was possible.
연출의도 Purpose
나전칠기의 전통표현을 통해 나무 가꾸는 소년의 일장춘몽을 표현하였다. 꿈속에서 결과만을 누리는 삶이 공허하다는 것을 알게 된 소년이 나무를 가꾸던 현실로 돌아와 과정의 의미를 깨닫게 되는 이야기를 만들고 싶었다.
In [Samsara], Korean traditional method of inlaying Lacquerware with mother-of-pearl is used to tell the story about a boy’s dream. The boy in this film finds out the meaning of ‘process’ through his one night journey in a dream where he can only enjoy the consequences.
