시놉시스 Synopsis
어린 시절 삼촌이 두던 바둑을 보고 흥미를 느낀 장그래, 그런 그래를 삼촌은 동네 바둑교실에 데려간다. 새벽같이 일어나 기보책을 보며 혼자 바둑을 두던 아홉 살의 그래는 바둑 신동이라는 소리를 듣기 충분했다. 바둑교실의 원장이 소개한 바둑학원 사범님은 그래를 바둑도장에 권유하기까지 이른다. 뭔가 될 거 같아 보이기 한 그래 이기도 했지만 때마침 부도를 맞은 아버지의 사업도 한몫했으리라.
열 한 살에 들어간 한국기원, 그렇게 7년이 지나고 장그래는 프로 입단에 실패한다. 바둑 말고는 아무것도 할 줄 아는 게 없는 장그래, 그는 그렇게 세상에 떠 밀려 나오게 된다. 검정고시를 치른 후 도망치듯 간 군대를 어느새 제대한 장그래는 바둑을 두던 시절 알던 지인의 소개로 원인터내셔녈에 인턴사원으로 취직하게 된다. 다시는 바둑처럼 실패하지 않겠다고 맹세한 장그래는 2개월 후 있는 PㆍT 시험을 위해 멘토 오 과장님과 버디 김 대리와 함께 2개월간의 인턴 생활을 하게 된다. 바둑으로 익힌 침착함과 판단력으로 테스트를 무사히 마친 장그래, 인턴 생활을 같이 한 안영이, 한석율, 장기백과 2년 계약직으로 채용된다. 그렇게 장그래의 2년간의 계약직이 시작되는데...
As a child, Jang Geu-rae gains an appreciation for baduk from watching his uncle. His uncle takes him to a baduk lesson, and the boy begins to study the game by himself. At the age of nine, many people consider him a prodigy. A baduk mentor encourages him to enter a baduk academy. Geu-reu seems destined to become a baduk master, until things take a sudden turn as his father's business goes bankrupt.
At the age of eleven, Geu-rae enters the baduk academy, but in the next seven years, he fails to become a professional baduk player. Having no skills other than playing the game, Geu-rae is forced into the real world for the first time. After his exams, his period of mandatory military service begins, offering a brief reprieve. When he returns from the military, a former acquaintance helps him get an internship at One International. Geu-rae is determined not to fail again and spends the next two months preparing for a test presentation while working as an intern with his boss Mr. Oh and his new friend Kim. The patience and judgment he acquired through baduk help him pass the test. He gets a temporary contract and continues working alongside with his fellow internees, Han An-young, Han Seok-Yul, and Jang Ki-baek. His two year journey as a contract employee begins.
